End of Season Strip and Clean, why have your gun serviced?
In the gun trade we have a term called “the lawn mower syndrome” this is where a gun has not been used for some length of time and is suddenly required for an important shoot only to find there is problem. Many guns are subject to hard use during the shooting season and when used regularly for clay pigeon shooting, all of this taking place in a wide variety of whether conditions.
Damage and malfunctions do occur but through regular maintenance these can be minimalised.
Strip and Clean
Firstly we visually inspect your shotgun and check for things like a good fit of the barrels with the action, weather the trigger pull is too heavy or too light and that your gun's extractors are timed correctly.
Next your gun is stripped right down to the last spring and pin. Every component is cleaned, polished if required and worn pins are re-blued
Your gun is then oiled, lubricated and re-assembled.
Finally we check we are happy with the function of your gun and you are ready for another season's shooting.

Gun Leather Covered Recoil Pads
We use Silvers recoil pads which we shape to fit you and your gun. We then cover these in leather and dye to your requirements.
Unlike a rifle, a shotgun should come to the shoulder with ease and be on target. In order to achieve a perfect mount to your body shape, height, length of arms etc. are all taken in to consideration to create the perfect comfortable mount. The majority of off the shelf guns are built to suit Mr and Mrs Average, the length of the stock and cast might not be best suited to you. We can lengthen, shorten and set your stock to suit your requirements.
We can inlay ovals into your stock and have them engraved with initials or crests. Through our network of craftsmen any part of your engraving can be restored or enhanced. Or perhaps something completely new?
Turn screws, snap caps, cleaning rods etc. are all hand made to order and can be supplied in brass and nickel silver. Handles and rods can be supplied in exotic woods depending on availability.
We completely disassemble your gun, check for things like the fit and function of components and that the gun is in proof. We then write a full report on the condition of your gun, along with value and any observations we have made.
We can store your gun short or long term, and whilst your gun is with us it is insured and kept in a safe secure environment.
